I think of creating art as a "dreaming meditation", as I follow where my subconscious stirrings lead me. During my teens, I began to have an intense interest in my dreams. The lyrical symbolism of dreams intrigued me, which led me to study the philosophical implications of Jungian philosophy, lucid dreaming, and metaphysical explorations.  Keeping a journal led to painting illustrations of dream content. Eventually, this evolved into dreaming as I painted. My interests in archetypal psychology, spirituality, metaphysics, the natural sciences, and art history are also apparent in my works.

My explorations of painting began with oils on canvas, eventually expanding to painting on panels, carved wood, and eventually glass and plexiglass. Feeling a need to break into layers of space, I currently paint on layers of plexiglass which are stacked in a shadow-box frame. I tend to work in a manner of free-association, or sometimes from a collage or drawing... though everything changes once the painting begins.

I currently make my home in Portland, Oregon. My plans include making more glass paintings, layered prints, works with interior lights, and altarpieces.
